Care of your Wooden Vase
The care and handling of wooden vases is similar to that of fine
furniture. Take some precaution as to the humidity in the air, and avoid
direct sunlight for extended periods. A dry environment can cause
cracking so keep vases away from woodstoves and heat vents, avoiding
drastic climate changes.
It is not unusual for wood to assume a slightly different shape
depending upon its environment. This means that a round vase might over
time slightly deviate from round. Your vase (and all wooden vases) will
warp and distort with the change of seasons so you may notice that the
vase is more round in one season compared to the other.
In most cases, the finish that was put on this vase is an oil based
finish which was then buffed on high speed wheels using three different
compounds (Tripoli, White Diamond and Carnuba). It is intended for
display only. Buff with a soft cloth and avoid the use of spray
furniture polishes. The nice shine of the vase may be dulled by contact
with water. Once dulled, it cannot easily be returned to the shine it
had when you first received it. It may darken appreciably over time but
may be reduced by keeping it out of direct sunlight.
